Often heralded as some of the best sailing in the world, the British Virgin Island are the ultimate classroom for your ASA 104 Bareboat Charter course. So outsmart the dreary weather and meet us in the BVIs this winter for an 8day/7night Bareboat Certification and Cruising extravaganza.

Your instruction will be under the watchful guidance of experienced Island Sailing Club (ISC) instructors, notably Captain Stephen Martin, Coast Guard licensed and certified ASA Bareboat Instructor. Captain Martin instructs for ISC in Kirkland, Washington and has also sailed for many years in the BVIs. Captain Martin has many insider tips to pass onto his students about the islands. The BVI's are in the wonderfully steady tradewinds that run through the Gulf of Mexico and up the eastern USA, perfect for sailing. Your course will expand on what you already know about sailing, focusing more in depth on line-of-sight nagivation, anchoring in the many clear bays, and planning and trouble-shooting for multiple day excursions. If you already have your Bareboat Certification but don't feel fully confident, our instructors can give you a quick refresher of the basics. Either way,the best part of this experience is that you will come away confident that you can return to the BVI's, or anywhere in the world, and charter a boat on your own someday.

Whether you have joined the trip for the excursion alone or are completeing your ASA 104 certification, there is much more to this trip than just the sailing technicalities. The British Virgin Islands are the perfect sailing destination for sailors and non-sailors alike. If you want to experience some great sailing, then the winds are stong and consistent, the bays are shallow and calm and the itinieraries are plentiful. If you are going just to take in some sun and scenerary, then you're set; lush islands surrounded by perfect beaches and reefs, warm water, radiant sun and delicious fresh food. All the boat options have large open decks and cockpits, perfect for sunbathing. During this week, there will be many opportunities to relax, swim, snorkel and hike. If you'd like, you can extend your stay on either end to exlore other nearby island groups, scuba dive or really soak up island life at the many beach resorts in the area.

We will leave from Nanny Cay on Tortola on the morning of the first day. Common stops include: The famous Baths on Virgin Gorda with warm boulder pools; Norman Island - rumored to be the site of Robert Louis Stevenson's famous novel, "Treasure Island;" Monkey Point on Guana Island with great snorkeling; Great Harbour on Jost Van Dyke, home of the famous Foxy's Bar and Restaurant; and successfully navigating the reefs around Anegada to be rewarded with a fresh lobster dinner on the beach. As a special highlight, your trip can coincide with the famous Tortola Full Moon Party - a fun night of mingling with fellow sailors and dancing to tropical drums and reggae music!

There are all sorts of boat options from basic with one head and small berths, to super-luxurious featuring full-queen beds and private bathrooms. Regardless, all boats have a full galley, at least one full head and plenty of space to lounge. We will do our best to balance preferences and budget.

The cost per person varies on number of people, size of boat, single/double occupancy, whether you are geting you ASA 104 certification or not, and time of year.

Included with the price are:
Boat Charter
Mooring and Park Fees
Breakfast and Lunch

ASA 104 course fees and materials (if applicable)

Our next scheduled dates are:

January 20, 2013 to January 27, 2013

We have chosen these dates because they fall within the low-mid season rates, but still have reliably good weather. Also, they coincide with the Full Moon Party in Tortola that is a fun addition to the itinerary. We are happy to schedule custom dates with 90 days notice. Remember that hurricane season severly affects the area in the late summer/early fall, and prices rise sharply for the week between Christmas and New Years.
