Kirkland Sailing on Seattle's Lake Washington
Welcome to Island Sailing in Kirkland. Situated in downtown Kirkland on Seattle's most renowned body of water - Lake Washington. We offer a wide variety of sailing opportunities on 20 to 25 foot keelboats.
With almost 34 miles of surface area, more than 200 feet deep in some locations, Lake Washington is a pleasant and easily accessible urban getaway. The lake is lined with famous homes, floating bridges, and beautiful parks. With connecting canals to Lake Union and Puget Sound via the Ballard Locks, sailors departing from our Kirkland location have a range of sailing options - from a simple day sail to an overnight cruising adventure. Sailors cruising to Lake Union also have the opportunity to enjoy the Seattle skyline as well as to dine at several waterfront restaurants with moorage facilities for boats. While cruising through the Lake Washington ship canal, sailors are treated to the sight of many impressive bridge structures, five of which are on the National Historic Register. Seasoned sailors can enjoy a trip through the Ballard Locks to cruising destinations on Puget Sound. With picturesque destinations such as Blake Island, the Kitsap Peninsula, or even north sound destinations such as Langley on Whidbey Island, you won't soon forget the scenery that makes Seattle one of the most livable cities in the nation. Located on the 2nd Avenue Pier in downtown Kirkland with an office at 123 S. Lake Street, we offer great sailing experiences for both the beginner and the skillful. Come by and ask about our free one hour demonstration sail. If you want to know more about what Island Sailing in Kirkland can offer to you, please call the Kirkland staff at (360) 601-9821.
